The Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai has confirmed that sixty-six people were in Kajuru Local Government Area (LGA) of Kaduna State on the eve of the 2019 Nigeria Presidential Election. The state government has recovered the bodies of the dead so far. The governor also said some arrest have been made. Gov. el-Rufai condemned the killing and pleaded with communities in the affected area not to retaliate or go on reprisal attack. The full statement released by Kaduna State Government reads

“Security agencies today reported the recovery of 66 bodies that were killed in attacks by criminal elements on various dispersed hamlets in the Maro Gida and Iri axis of Kajuru. Among the victims were 22 children and 12 women. Four wounded persons rescued by the security agencies are now receiving medical attention”.
