The Independent National Election Commission (INEC) has declared Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State as the winner of 2019 Sokoto Governorship Election that was held on March 23, 2019. He is the current governor of Sokoto State running on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Gov. Aminu Tambuwal scored 512,002 votes and his opponent, All Progressives Congress (APC) Candidate Ahmad Aliyu scored 511,661 votes. Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State won by 341 votes over his opponent.

You may recall that, the Independent National Election Commission declared the March 9, 2019 Sokoto State Governorship Election “in inconclusive”. PDP Candidate, Gov. Aminu Tambuwal scored 489,558 votes and his opponent, All Progressives Congress (APC) Candidate Ahmad Aliyu scored 486,145 votes. INEC canceled 136 polling units in 22 Local Government Areas (LGAs) Sokoto State. The canceled polling units and LGAs has 75,403 registered voters.
