Former Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha was sworn in as a senator representing Imo West at the Nigerian National Assembly. Some of you may recall that, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) refused to issue Rochas Okorocha certificate of return due to a complain made by the returning officer. The returning officer for Imo West senatorial districts said he was forced to declare Okorocha as the winner and that he is doing it “under duress.” Rochas Okorocha went to court. The federal high court in Abuja ruled in favor of the former governor and ordered INEC to issue Okorocha his certificate of return. He was sworn in by the clerk of the senate, Nelson Ayewoh in Abuja, the nation’s capital (Nigeria).
